The Virgin is the point of reference for all my reflections

My first experience with Our Lady, especially Our Lady of Aparecida (Brazil), happened when I was a boy, before my conscience was fully formed.

From the day of my birth I had health problems so my parents, who had a strong devotion to the Virgin Mary, consecrated me to Our Lady of Aparecida. They prayed for a long time, asking the Virgin to heal and protect me. After that, I was never sick again while growing up, and have never set foot in a hospital, except once when I was injured playing ball at the age of 17.

I have kept the small image received during this consecration in my childhood. At the time my parents did it for me, but now I am the one who personally chooses the Virgin Mary to be my traveling companion. The Virgin is the point of reference for all my reflections, decisions and activities. She is the Mother who listens to me, who shows me the way, and who walks beside me.
