Four Anglican bishops and an Anglican-ecumenical pilgrimage were in Fatima on May 13, 2017: their annual pilgrimage this year coincided with that of Pope Francis for the Centenary of the first apparition.
They were welcomed by the bishop of Leiria-Fatima, Bishop António Marto, and the rector of the shrine, Father Carlos Cabecinhas, on Wednesday, May 10, 2017, as "brothers in the faith" who must feel "at home" in Fatima, said officials of the shrine.
"Los Amigos de Fatima" is an ecumenical organization of the Anglican Church that visits Fatima every year on May 12-13. The association was founded and consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Fatima on May 15, 2001, by the Rev. Fr. Edwin Barnes, the former Anglican Bishop of Richborough (England), a Catholic priest since 2011.
The objective of the organization is to achieve the unity of all Christians under the patronage of Mary, Mother of God. Every year it organizes a 10-day pilgrimage to the shrine of Fatima.
