In Quito, Ecuador, Our Lady is venerated under the title of "Maria Santisima del Buen Suceso" which translates as "Most Holy Mary of the Good Event (or good success)."
The origin of the shrine goes back to the astonishing revelations received by Mother Mariana de Jesus Torres (1553-1635), who was the abbess and one of the founders of the Royal Monastery of the Immaculate Conception of Quito. Mother Mariana went through great trials there and was even thrown in jail by rebellious nuns! However, between 1588 and 1634, she was favored by several apparitions of the Virgin Mary.
The nun offered her life to atone for the future heresies and impiety of the 20th century, which were revealed to her beforehand. Several messages evoke the actions of Freemasons, whose first group (the Rosicrucians) was born in England at the end of the 16th century.
The messages announce the attacks on the sacraments as well as an attack on the family and the onslaught of impurity. They also announce the great Marian devotion of the future. The Virgin Mary also predicted the promulgation of the dogmas of the Immaculate Conception and pontifical infallibility.
