A miraculous solar phenomenon reportedly occurred on October 13, 2017, in Benin City, southern Nigeria, on the National Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. The case is reminiscent of the "Dance of the Sun" which took place exactly 100 years ago in Portugal.
In videos visible on YouTube, the crowd in Benin-City saw a larger-than-normal sun which started to flicker. The Nigerian media testified to the occurrence. There were about 55,000 people present.
The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Nigeria (CBCN) spoke about the phenomenon on October 15th on its Facebook page: "What happened 100 years ago in Fatima, Portugal, happened in Benin City on October 13, 2017. What a great miracle from our Mother Mary, Our Lady of Fatima!" the bishops wrote.
The Nigerian prelates interpreted this sign as an encouragement from Our Lady of Fatima, as they were beginning a ceremony of Re-consecration of Nigeria to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
On October 13, 1917, in Fatima, 70 000 people had witnessed the miracle of the "dance of the sun" and saw the sun spin on itself, emitting different colored rays of light. The phenomenon lasted about ten minutes.
