"Behold, the days come that I will make a new covenant" (Jer 31:31) In Israel's and the Blessed Virgin's prayers, meditating on the hope aroused by the prophets, the coming of the Messiah would make all things new: "Behold, the days come that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah..." (...) "I will put my law in their inward parts, and in their heart will I write it; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people..." (...) "for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest of them: for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin will I remember no more" (Jer 31:31-34). "You renew the face of the earth" (Ps 104:30). "I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh; that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God" (Ezek 11:19-20). "A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you; and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh. I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and you shall keep my ordinances, and do them" (Ezek 36:26-27). "I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; and your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your old men will dream dreams. Your young men will see visions. And also on the servants and on the handmaids in those days, I will pour out my Spirit" (Joel 2:28-29).
