Let us linger on the association between the Blessed Virgin and honey that led Hildegard of Bingen to write, in a letter to Bernard of Clairvaux, that the Father "sent the Word with sweet fruitfulness into the womb of the Virgin, from which He soaked up flesh, just like honey is surrounded by the honeycomb."
