The Compassion of the Blessed Virgin (IV)

Mary's heart rent apart at the foot of the cross. She accompanies her only Son to his death: it is not the first or only time she has surrendered Him. She has never ceased to sacrifice Him since Simeon foretold of the strange contradictions that He was to suffer. From that time forward, fellow Christians, she gave Him up at every moment of her life, her oblation coming to an end at the cross. What did that surrender cost her? We can only wonder, but judge for yourselves from the Gospel, and by her subsequent actions.
