Saint Louis Grignion de Montfort proposed a very powerful Marian doctrine, which has been taken up again and lived out with fruitfulness by many Christians and in particular by Pope John Paul II, who even took his motto from him: "Totus tuus." These words summarize the Marian Consecration that is at the heart of Montfort's doctrine: "In the presence of the heavenly court, I choose you this day for my Mother and my Queen. I surrender and consecrate to you, as your slave, my body and soul, my possessions both interior and external, and even the value of all my good deeds past, present and future; leaving to you the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the greatest glory of God, in time and eternity. Amen." Saint Louis Grignion de Montfort invites us, by the Marian Consecration, to imitate Jesus by taking Mary as our Mother, and by entrusting everything to her.
